Catastrophe?
I know the hurt of loosing a loved one (several, actually) to a “catastrophic diagnosis”, and because of this feel a strong obligation to share what I know about the body and its amazing ability to heal, given what it needs. It is terrifying to be given a serious diagnosis. I can’t diminish that. However, my background and my experience cause me to strike a different view. And often the details of the diagnosis can provide a map out of it. I would love for you to be empowered by this broader view as you enter the reality of what life becomes after the catastrophic diagnosis, in order to navigate through it.
For some of you, this is the second or third time that you have been confronted with such a diagnosis. Please allow yourself to join me in questioning whether or not the diagnosis is the be-all-end-all, or if it is really the opportunity to begin again. Your health care freedom, and sense of feeling free to make the best decision based on your value system, is vital to your wellbeing and the eventual outcome of your situation.
Someone wise once said, everyone’s biography becomes his/her biology. With nearly two decades of professional experience, it is my understanding that this is absolutely true. Every story leading up to a catastrophic diagnosis is different, therefore the path to recovery will be different. I believe the most vital component– aside from feeling like you are empowered in your health care journey– is a medical team or treatment plan that will see you for who you are and support you holistically based on your needs.
In the case of a catastrophic diagnosis, use the strengths of each model of medicine to your advantage. The strengths of conventional medicine lie in stabilization and emergency medicine. In the case of a catastrophic diagnosis, it is rare that you have to do something that exact moment. You should always insert a pause– three days minimum– before you decide on a treatment plan. And always get a second opinion. No good doctor would ever be offended by this, as they would want you to be confident in your path toward healing.
Integrative Medicine bridges with conventional medicine beautifully. The strength here is that you can use natural options to supplement your treatment plan in order to reduce side effects, stress, and increase your quality of life during treatments. BioEnergetic Medicine is a form of natural medicine that can stand-alone or compliment Conventional Medicine protocols. It would be my first choice, personally, should I ever have a loved one or myself receive a catastrophic diagnosis.
Take cancer, for example. We look at cancer as the body’s way of protecting itself from something, usually toxicity. It is a natural biological function. So we relate to it that way. Although we are not at all casual about it– we recognize the seriousness of it– we also maintain a level of calm, because we still trust the body to do what it knows how to do given the right resources.
In my experience, less invasive procedures are easier for the body to metabolize. It is my staunch professional opinion that the body knows how to heal itself given what it needs. A neoplastic condition, like cancer, is still a natural part of that process. So I would still relate to the body in the same way as if it was healthy, paying attention to what is out of balance. I am not a doctor. I do not diagnose or prescribe. And I don’t heal anything. The body heals itself, given what it needs. My specialty is identifying what those needs are, naturally, and providing them in an intelligent and effective manner.
Here is a story:
A woman diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer is told that there is little that can be done for her in terms of stopping the progression of the disease. She knows what she is dealing with and looks to one of my colleagues who specialize in BioEnergetic Assessment. In the assessment, the woman’s body tested for only Opening Channels, a program designed to open the body’s pathways of elimination and heal the mucosal linings for healthy regeneration potential. For the next two months it tested for the same. The fourth month her body tested for Opening Channels plus one other homeopathic for detoxifying support; and in five moths the woman was cancer-free.
The hope is within the design of the body and must come from your maintaining inner calm. Keep your eyes open; ask intelligent questions; use trusted resources. Many of you will survive your situation and find the first year after it to be the most difficult. You know how to survive but not how to Thrive.
Enter your health care situation with the intention to Thrive because of it and not merely survive it. Raise the bar and know everything in the universe will conspire on your behalf to make this so.
